Lafourche Parish Sandbag locations…

Sandbags are now available at all field office locations throughout Lafourche Parish. Any resident who may need sandbags to protect their home from the possibility of high water due to rainfall can pick up sandbags at the field office locations:

Thibodaux Field Office (2565 Veterans Blvd)

Raceland Field Office (129 Texas Street)

Lockport Field Office (6236 Hwy 308)

Galliano/Cut Off Field Office (128 West 97th Street)

Choctaw Field Office (122 Choctaw Barn Road)

Bayou Blue Field Office (104 Myrtle Place)

Lafourche Parish Government Office of Emergency Preparedness Director Chris Boudreaux says the Emergency Operations Center in Port Fourchon is monitoring the storm system along with the Department of Public Works in Mathews. “We are asking residents to stay aware of the situation because historically, these are the types of systems that tend to bring heavy rainfall in a short amount of time,” said Boudreaux. “All essential personnel are on standby to respond to flooding situations if those circumstances arise.” Pumpers are already working to pump out areas that experienced rainfall over the weekend. Oil spill cleanup operations have halted. Cleanup crews are once again removing safety tents from Fourchon Beach and moving and securing all assets on higher ground. This system is expected to bring tides one to two feet above normal.
